Is there an echo in Dotty's head?

Michael Laws, Mayor, WanganuiIn the unlikely event anyone out there might have thought, even for one moment, that Deputy Dotty isn't capable of an original thought beyond advising readers of the throwaway press on how to make the most of the current weather, here’s incontrovertible proof.

The blue quotes from Deputy Duh! are from the glossy diVision junk report that has just landed in long-suffering ratepayers’ letter boxes. The red quotes that follow are from a wee gem of a news release by Mayor Mickey with the catchy title "Mayor welcomes decision on riverfront walkway - 14/06/06".
Spot the difference, or spot the puppet strings that open and shut Dotty’s jaw:

Enhancing the riverfront walkway is great news for Wanganui and a real shot in the arm for this city’s recreation and tourism facilities, says Deputy Mayor Dot McKinnon.

Mayor Michael Laws today hailed last night's Finance and Administration Committee decision on the riverfront walkway as great news for Wanganui and a real shot in the arm for this city's recreation and tourism facilities.

"For generations Wanganui has turned its back on our river," Cr McKinnon said.

"For generations Wanganui has turned its back on our river," Mayor Laws said.

"This decision marks a defining point in the city’s development. It embraces our river as a dynamic part of our everyday existence, provides a superior recreational area for our citizens, and links brilliantly with both the existing facilities of the Waimarie and the marina on the other side of the Town Bridge."

"This decision marks a defining point in the city's development. It embraces our river as a dynamic part of our everyday existence, provides a superior recreational area for our citizens, and links brilliantly with both the existing facilities of the Waimarie and the marina on the other side of the Town Bridge."

Cr McKinnon also wants to acknowledge the generous support for this project from Wanganui Gas who have offered to provide gas flares to light up the area at night.

Is this why the job of replacing the Spin Fairy wasn't advertised? Perhaps they've just seconded someone from the Council's rubbish recycling operation instead.

Dotty wants to be trusted by Sarjeant supporters, but all her opinions are provided for her by Mickey Mayor.

Can you guess why we wouldn't trust you as far as we could kick your husband (as enjoyable as that would be...), Dotty?

Now, now, he's a lawyer you know. And enjoyable as kicking a brutish, bullying oaf who is ALSO a lawyer (and does it get any sweeter than that?) he will probably have this forum closed down on a legal pretence, oops, sorry, pretext.

I'm not sure Dot or her Dick know how to operate a computer.

It is perhaps illustrative of LW that a natural disaster happens here and you print this crap.
So what if deputy Dot reaches the same conclusions as the mayor on the riverfront development. The whole council unanimously resolved that the mayor's logic was correct.
If Vision are so wrong, how come 6 other councillors backed them? And again?

Goodness, you want us to blame the Mayor for the weather now? :-D

The blog's focus is on the Mayor, the Council, their actions and their words. We don't cover acts of God.

Oh of course, we forgot... your idol thinks he is God.

Never been on the benefit in my life sorry. Ahhh another case of Mickey thinking all those here are artists? You've been told silly, everybody hates you.

Diversion tactics!
Should we all ignore the fact that Dotty is nothing more than an elected parrot just because it's raining?

The point, for those of you at the back, is that she not alone came to the same conclusions, but that she and Laws used EXACTLY the same words. So, either there is a meeting of minds on a truly Olympian scale or he is telling her what to say. And if that is the case then surely a even a mind as blissfully empty as Dotty's must feel a little bit, well, bullied. Not that you give a damn, evidently, about bullying.

Speaking of disasters, why would Mickey Mayor feel the need to launch such an ungrateful and unprovoked attack on Jim Anderton?

Perhaps Lawswatch could compose a more appropriate press release thanking the Minister for his time, and apologising for the mental Mayor's incompetent rudeness.

What's the matter? Wickle Mickeywicki feeling left out of the adults' conversation? Diddums.

Hah, more like ickle Mickiwicky having to admit that the regional council has a role to play after all. Imagine the response of a unitary authority with ML at the helm! Martial law (or perhaps Martial Laws) and arties hanging from lampposts. Meanhwile, he'd be amking sure anyone needing help was not on a benefit or earning less than the average wage....

Was that the mayor I saw on TV One News tonight delivering goodies to trapped rural folk?

Cant have been! After all I hear the people up the river have been stuck there since last Thurs and they certainly havent been delivered anything by the Mayor.
In fact I dont think I have even seen anything from him acknowledging their situation.

It is very interesting that the only stuff up from local authorities during the storm and its aftermath was from Horizons. All of Wanganui's needs were serviced by the district council and Horizons were left to botch Whangaehu and the Turakina Valley.
