The Walking Dead
We’ve gasped and we’ve raged at the ghastly crimes against truth, justice, democracy (and most recently the sanctity of the Prince Edward Auditorium at Wanganui Collegiate) committed daily by the Beast of Taupo Quay, aka John Philip Maslin! We’ve cracked our cynical medical jokes at the ineptness of the Foolish Felons operating under the Sign of Vision! We’ve even developed a grudging respect for the ability of the Devilish Doctor Warbottom and his Guyton St Gang to evade the Bungling Cops in Wellington !
But we have to confess, Dear Readers, that events of the past three months have left us wondering just what deadly pathogen has infected the Wanganui body politic and its parasitic media. Since this vile disease called Election Fever was unleashed three months ago we’ve seen sights that have turned the stomach of even the most seasoned Watchers.
But nothing to match the appalling sight on page ten of the October 4 issue of the tacky and thoroughly corrupt little rag called River City Press. There, Dear Watchers, you will be shocked to see the grinning skulls of Dr Warburstein and his very own creation Julian Harkless proclaiming they ‘have their fingers on our council’s financial pulse’ and that everything – believe them – is hunky dory!
Debt is good! Debt is great! says Dave. We’re doing a terrific job! says Julian. Watch their lips … VOTE VISION!! Their jobs depend on it, and the financial genii at the River City Press aren’t in the mood to argue. Like the rats down the drainpipe at Wanganui’s decaying morgue, they’re happy to feast on whatever comes their way.
MEANWHILE, BACK IN BLOGSVILLE …
We’ve been amused in the last few weeks by the emergence of a couple of Wanganui wannabe blogs which have fizzled and faded like soggy sparklers on a wet November 5. The first was the curious case of http://wanganuigossip.blogspot.com which set itself up as an alternative to LawsWatch, professed to be seeking the dirt on (night)mayor Mickey and attracted about five desultory comments before disappearing mysteriously into the blog fog with an announcement that:
This blog is open to invited readers only.
AND THEN
… there was the curious case of the newbie blogger at http://whanganui.org who lasted only a couple of posts after erupting with a hiss and a roar on September 17 with these promising gems …
Many feel that Michael has done God’s work but that it’s time for a rest from the politics of aggression and intimidation and for a bit of co-operation.
The Vision team bear an uncanny resemblance to Czarina Helen’s ministers: what the head prefect says goes. There’s one person making the decisions and we all know who it is. Supporters of Rob Muldoon and Maggie Thatcher will be suffering severe déjà vu.
I’m open to persuasion, but my feeling is that Wanganui folk are ready for some decorum and unity.
OF COURSE
The RIGHTeous Blogmeister turned pollster David Farrar boasts nothing if not longevity with his KiwiBlog. Mr Farrar, famous in his own lunchtime for the fact that ‘Michael got me arrested 13 years ago’ very kindly includes a link to LawsWatch on his very well-read site which recently discussed his polling pranks on behalf of the Wanganui Chron(ic).

The simplified analogy for the Rotokawau run-off is great...however, it doesn't explain the problem with the lakes everywhere else in the district or indeed the North Island.
----------------------------
Actually, it does. The other lakes may not have Rotokawau, but they have their equivalent. See following quote from Environment Waikato re Lake Taupo "Environment Waikato Resource Information Group Manager Dr Tony Petch said blooms were one of the reasons the Council was developing changes to control pollutants from surrounding land entering the lake. The controls were necessary to prevent further enrichment of the lake, which could result in more blooms.". Sounds to me that stopping the run off polluting the the lake is probably a pretty good idea.
Just checked out that appalling piece of Warburton/Harkness electioneering. But Mickey's hand must have slipped out of their collective bums for a second because Warburton forgot his lines and said he 'doesn't blame the previous council for these differences'.
Hey Dave, that's not the way it is according to your puppet meister. Get with the programme, Doc!
This is a great blog, Wanganui. Up here we think it’s a bit of a joke that the boy who ran away from high school in Hamilton after being caught wanking by other kids (though he doesn’t even mention being here on his website) is now a fulltime, very public wanker! Good luck in getting rid of the pathetic little creep!
...the boy who ran away from high school in Hamilton...

Would this be one of those defamatory remarks, Mickey you tosser? Or would it be yet another example of why there's nothing left to defame?
Were you really caught Wanking - your Worship? You of all people should know the most sensitive part of your body when spanking the monkey should be your ....... ears!
I think the reunion is on soon, oh to be a fly on the wall.
I'm trying to figure out how to defame a man who was caught wanking at school, drummed out of the NZ debating team, betrayed his constituents and forced to resign from parliament and as a Councillor, abuses anyone who disagrees with him and spends ratepayers money on self promotion. This man has been described as a "psychopath" by a psycologist, a forensic psychiatrist claims that he has "nightmares of being covered in filth" and "uses Wanganui as his toilet".
I'm really struggling. Anyone?
And the fact that some voters will actually tick the circle next to his name, proves only that some people like being abused.......
What's worse than being caught wanking at school, drummed out of the NZ debating team, betraying constituents and being forced to resign from parliament and as a Councillor and being abusive to anyone who disagrees with you and spending ratepayers money on self promotion.
Oh yes, losing to someone like this as it means the public still prefer his traits to you.
Bad luck John. Your censorship rules will mean this email may never make the public site but you will know you are a loser.
I'm not sure if Laws really has any idea what shit he dribbles:
Laws PR 9 Oct.
"..."Mr Laws said that, by contrast, “we have not destroyed, damaged nor denigrated anything."..."
Denigrate: (Oxford English 11th Ed)
v. Criticize unfairly, disparage.
Merriam-Webster
1 : to attack the reputation of : DEFAME (denigrate one's opponents)
Same Laws PR:
“Let’s be clear: these people hate democracy..."
Umm, ok dick-in-hand.
Clearly, your a tosser, but contradicting yourself in your own PR?
To change the subject from Lakes and venom I offer the following "did you know?" That the Ladies Rest building in St Hill Street built for the women of Wanganui in 1930 and still being used for that purpose, is a strong consideration for the new information centre? Has anyone been consulted about this?
What went wrong with the Mickey n Mas double act this morning? Just when Mickey thought he could rely on Mas to see him right on the front page, he ends up with a balanced and well written story - well as balanced as anything can be when it's reporting press releases by an unbalanced mayor.
It's written by a real reporter, as opposed to propoganda slut Mas, and puts his grubby little campaign campaign in perspective.
Can hear the screams now to Ms Ed!
The Dominion ran what was obviously the original story. I suggest you get hold of it. Comparing the two shows how much the Chronicle did tone it down. Probably very wisely. If I was one of the people referred to in the Dominion article I'd be visiting my lawyer today. I wonder how he 'knows' that a group of at least middle-aged and otherwise normal law abiding citizens have been prowling around in the middle of the night destroying his signs. And if he can't prove it then he should never have said what he has. Entirely uncalled for.

over the past few weeks i have -as always-checked out daily `mayormichael.co.nz`
to see ml`s latest press release and then read it-unchallenged-in the next day`s `chronicle`
it was WONDERFUL,therefore, today,to see his histrionics actually checked out and carefully challenged by people with a balanced view-including john martin whose supporters ml accused of dastardly behaviour.
congratulations,editor,you did a decent job.
"If I was one of the people referred to in the Dominion article I'd be visiting my lawyer today."
The Laws Media Release (which is also on the Vision website) would give rise to an actionable cause in defamation.
If I believed I was referred to: Within 5 days of seeing the PR I would look to s25 Defamation Act 1992 which on request requires (a) a retraction or (b) a reasonable reply.
Case Law supports the notion that one should refer criminal allegations to the correct authority.
The Laws Media Release (which is also on the Vision website) would give rise to an actionable cause in defamation.

How could anything Michael Laws says be defamatory? You'd have to establish that a reasonable person would pay the slightest attention to his lunatic gobshite in the first place.
ML got exactly what he wanted with the Chron front page I would suggest. The headline, the sub-headline and the linking of the damage to John Martin supporters. The allegation is always stronger than the denial.
Great picture with the Dom article though, and a picture is worth a thousand hysterical shrieks.
God its almost laughable isnt it....bob the parrot....word of the day fringe
---
Bob still believed it was the work of political fringe supporters.
Mayor Michael Laws claimed the party's billboards had been "systematically targeted" by vandals he believed were fringe supporters of a mayoral candidate.

Tauranga campaigner John Brignall has declared that he will push for an electoral petition to hold a District Court inquiry into the conduct of the election.
A candidate or 10 electors with a complaint about the conduct of an election can file a petition in the District Court demanding an inquiry into the conduct of the election.
The District Court judge must then determine whether any irregularity "materially affected" the result of the election. Depending on the circumstances, the election can be declared void and a new election held.
Best news all year: a Vision minority on Council
Bye bye Murray Hughes, Vision chief jerk - sometimes you just can't buy enough dishwashers to cleanse the filth that you produce!
And go the independent council. Best you f--k off now, Micky you loser. Your (vision) ha turned to custard and it's all over your ugly mug.
GO THE INDEPENDENTS!
That IS good news. Without a majority of puppets, I'll bet the puppetmeister hands over his rule.
