Who do you think you are kidding, Mr Mayor?

Put that bleedin' light out, Adams!

We'd love to take credit for this, we truly would, but it's an anonymous correspondent's take on the Diva's Secret Police:

The Burgher Police (aka Dad's Army) will no doubt be led on their patrols of Wanganui-On-Sea by the bumptious Grey Power platoon leader Captain Graham Adams, who like his role model Capt Mainwaring is a former banker with delusions of military grandeur. Capt Adams was the one who famously stirred the Vision troops during his annual plan inspection,on behalf of Grey Power, with the admonition that they owe their allegiance to their great leader Dame Commander Michael Laws as much as to the electors who conscripted them to Michael's Militia. Insp Hoyle might be regular forces but he's sure stumbled into a minefield as a result of succumbing to the charms of his own Lili of the Lamplight.

Sheesh! Michael Laws, Sam Hoyle, Sue pepperell, Grey Power, Graham Adams ... is there anybody that you guys actually like? An while we're at it - where's the dingo that took Carol Webb, Matt Dutton, Jay Kuten and the rest?

I thought this was all about the dingo that took Wanganui?

See Dog and Kennel Magazine: "To this day dingo is Australian slang for a bad, cunning person"

Interesting to see the Diva pointing the finger on the WDC website at "financial management issues within the council" for an "additional $35,000 charged by Audit New Zealand to audit the 2003/04 Annual Report".

Is it true that the reason for the Audit NZ "fine" was because the report was late being filed - and that the reason it was late being filed was that the Diva himself was sitting on it and refusing to sign it off?

Answers in a plain brown 3-ply toilet paper wrapper, please.

Here I am. It's great that someone else is prepared to "take up the cudgel". It was getting bloody heavy. Thanks for your concern Mike, and thanks to the Watchers.

I don't think Grey Power have been slagged off, have they? Just Graham Adams' slavish plaudits for the Vision gang.

If this is true, it begs a further question: when did Laws receive the report he finally signed? Before or after the deadline?

Or alternatively, you could just add it to the list of things that aren't worth complaining about because they've already happened.

In any case, surely Michael can just top up the $35k out of his salary. Which he "doesn't take".

I wonder if there's any connection between Grey Power saluting the Diva in Wangawinnie and the rumours flying about the Diva being on Winston First's list?

I must say that was a side-splitting bit of theatre at Winnie's press conference, with the calls from "Don" and "Helen". I kept waiting for a third (yellow?) phone to ring.

Winston answers:

"Oh Michael, it's you. How many times have I told you not to ring me during press conferences"

"What? Yes, thanks for the crate of pinot gris and the list - you've done a good job onthat, as usual"

"Yes, don't worry I'll get it off to Auckland tonight"

"Michael, I told you I'd give you Number One slot and as you know, I'm a man of my word"

"Okay, bye Michael"

Graham might be usefull to Micky when he makes a move on Wanganui Gas. Surport from the old/new boys!

No, it's not true - the $35K audit fee (it was 30K in the Chron) was the result of the worst council in wanganui history. Plus the additional $45K for Mitchell to get the true picture. If you start rumours, provide the proof, bozo. Woof woof.

Amazing, isn't it, that Lawswatch can get a straight answer when the Chronicle doesn't even ask the question. This rumour was not started here: it has been current in Wanganui for the last three months. Oh, and if you provide the proof it's not a rumour anymore.

Spin Micky spin.

Check out the Council website, bozo. Read the news releases section. If you can read, of course.

How frustrating it must be now the Chron. won't print your crap. What happened to that defamamtion suit?

What defamation? who's defamed who? The problem with this site is like all others who moan - Lws got elected fairly, is doing what he said he'd do & - a few arts activists apart - is meeting the favour of Wanganui. You hate him. Big deal. But this is still Carol Webb in just another guise - and Matt Dutton. Leave town if you don't like it.

1. I read this blog, clearly I post here, I am not the author and I'm 100% convinced it's none of the CoC complainants. Don't believe me? Ask Sean Hoskins.

2. I don't hate Michael; I abhor his divisive behaviour, and I think attacking the arts is very foolish.

3. Leave town? Get out from behind your anonymity, scumbag.

You hate Laws because he's beaten you. And he's doing everything that he said he would do, while not listening to self-opinionated whiners. He said he'd put the arts activists & the old boy network in their place - and he sure has. We like that. Wanganui likes that.

What arts? Wanganui is no more arty than Levin. It isn't on the same quality par as New Plymouth, Napier or Nelson let alone the metros. The biggest myth about Wangavegas is that its an arts centre. It isn't. You need to travel more, Matt.

Well, good for you; just what is "our place" exactly? What a parochial small minded attitude. You don't like the international attention the Arts get Wanganui? Sure, artists have successfully raised the profile of New Plymouth and Napier; clearly you want Wanganui to miss out on that potential bonanza.

The daft thing is, you won't prevent artists doing our work, and you won't stop open-minded people everywhere from loving it. All you've done is put the nation's heritage at risk. Duh.

what heritage ... artists in Wanganui have created no saleable heritage. Ordinary people have - businesspeople, workers, Maori, civic leaders, tourist operators.

Now I get this blog. It's about hate. excellent. More please.

Um, duh. Regular sales to Australia, USA, Europe, plus nationwide. Four and five figure sums, just for paintings. Does any of this sound familiar?

Anonymous said...

no, it doesn't. who sells work for that? Maybe Camden ... after that? Compare with other provinces & the talent there.

This is a very bitter part of the blogosphere. You could go mad here. Lighten up my little light-bulbs. Don't let one man obsess you so. Fall in love, go for a walk, garden ... anything.

'LW got elected fairly'
yes we must light up, ....he's just a stupid bully boy, that I for one wish I'd never voted for. And I certainly did not expect this mess he's pulling us into.

... so says Carol Webb. Come on, dearie - give away this less-than-magnificent obsession, find a man, & go and live a real life. You might even break the habit of a lifetime and start to be happy.

Carol Webb has not been anywhere near this blog since Friday. Who's the one with the obsession now? Not to mention that you show your own malice quite clearly in the final remark.

You have no ideas, so you play the man, not the ball.

If their are any artists looking in, please don't rise to the bate, this man must be deaf, blind and dumb. Most differently a Laws supporter ...

Thanks for this blogg, it's pretty funny... I'll look in again.

Thereby demonstrating your own intellectual bankruptcy for all to see. And is that a trace of homophobia, dearie?
