Horrendous oversight noticed
The NZ Listener has released it's list of the 50 most powerful people in NZ (the Listener article describes the process, not the picks, but the National Business Review has them here).
The Diva isn't on it.
Amongst those making the cut, however, were:
- Wellington's Mayor Kerry Prendergast at 31
- Radio host Murray Deaker at 37
- Artist Ralph Hotere at 43
Don't miss today's two other posts - Yesh, Minishter and Pie-eyed Pipers, presented below for your reading pleasure.

I like that... but there is one mayoral programme on which McGregor and McDahya are also playing in tune against, and that's the mayor's plan to cut councillor numbers.
Seems they do know the self-preservation fling.
...the mayor's plan to cut councillor numbers...
don't make me laugh - the mayor doesn't give a toss about councillor numbers; the plan is to be popular, like a prom-queen. Anything beyond that is irrelevant.
Why the sarcasm? Did you honestly expect the Mayor of a city like Wanganui to be on the top 50 "most powerful kiwis"?
Was the Mayor of Palmerston on the list? New Plymouth? Nelson?
Grow up and pull your head in.
"Did you honestly expect the Mayor to be on the top 50 "most powerful kiwis"?"
No, but he would.
Grow up and pull your head in...
Yes, Watchers, give up, go away, please don't write anything more. Or perhaps one piece saying how mistaken you've all been and then a series of articles praising His Worship The Mayor Michael Brian Laws.
When he reveals his power you will bow to him, and those cowardly dogs at The Listener will know his wrath.
;)
'Hello' the great unwashed, this IS Mad Mayor Michael and I AM the most important person in this tiny small - minded town. You ALL will be running in MY race and bow down to MY wishes and ( beautiful) image, OR feel my anger! ( see tomorrow's Chron for details).
First the Handspan now Kowhai Park - it seems everything Mickey says he doesn't like, the vandals smash. Coincidence?
Except the Mayor likes Kowhai Park so that blows that theory.
Did you honestly expect the Mayor of a city like Wanganui to be on the top 50 "most powerful kiwis"?
But (as Mickey needs to be constantly reassured) size doesn't matter.
Kerry Prendergast made it, Dick Hubbard didn't.
So did Ralph Hotere. Someone called "Brotha D" who evidently produces some form of music (though we strongly suspect that may be debateable) made it.
It's not just about power, though those who wield it, like the PM and her chief advisor Heather Simpson obviously make the list. It's also about influence. Clearly, despite his desperate attempts to establish himself as a "celebrity", the Diva has none.
