Lights, camera - awards!

In the spirit of celebrating all that is great and good about Wanganui while pointing out all that is poor and tarnished (yes, we mean you Mickey ;-) an update from Marion Campbell:

The short film 'Dream within a Dream' which won the Best Special Effects Award (sponsored by DVT), at the Rivercity Film Festival in 2004, and had its premiere at the Royal Wanganui Opera House, is the only NZ film selected for the Melbourne Film Festival for Animation Films open to films made worldwide. The company who produced the film is acknowledging its success at the Wanganui Film Festival. It is a brilliant film as any who saw it will tell you. If it wins in Melbourne, then Wanganui will be mentioned.

If you want to see how Felicity does with her film, Google 'Dream within a dream'.
Congratulations to the production team, and to the Festival organisers for their role in fostering Wanganui's talent.

So Marion Campbell isn't such a loser after all, is she? She's contrinuted more to Wanganui than all you arts wankers combined.

Haven't you got guitar lesson to give, JB? - Or have you already hit the turps?

Thanks, Marion

This just reinforces the value of the festival to Wanganui. It's all very well jumping up and down about River Queen and other big one-day wonders, but as a community (and especially as a council) we need to look after the things that people have put blood, sweat and tears into building up to this point.

I think Laws Watch has just been trying to say that sadly, in the festival's case, that didn't happen.

Artists Open studio Weekends worth $400k plus to Wanganui...you were saying?

Spinning's just not your game is it?

:)

The only people who've been saying Marion is a loser are Lawsmob. One of them also called her a quitter.

LawsMob love Marion.
Marion loves the mayor.
None of our lot would call Marion Campbell a loser because we know she's been great for Wangas. We reserve our scorn for losers like dull Dutton and the other whinging Pom Emma Camden.

When Michael Laws
Bares his claws
The town all laugh
And watchers barf
As the Diva shows his flaws

Anonymous said...

The Diva pouts
And stamps and shouts
But we Watchers know
He has to go
Like Don, he'll soon be out

Who's the idiot poet - keeping the Wanganui standard right down there. Crap gallery, crap city, crap poets. We love you in Palmerston North because you make us look metropolitan.

Two more years ruling you. dickhead. Go Lawsy - kick these dole bludgers/art wannabes up the arse.

Thats great news and reinforcement of your vision[sorry!] Marion
So sad your event became a political pawn!
Surely it is possible to ressurect it without involving the Council?

Two more years ruling you

Thank you for explaining, in a single sentence, just why Laws and his followers are so bad for democracy - here, in Hawkes Bay, in Wellington, whereever he arises.

Elected officials do not rule they serve.

Anonymous said...

No, they rule YOU LawsWatch.
They SERVE real people.

"...real people..."

That sounds like something Deputy Doh! would say.

If you really think like this I feel sorry for you. Just remember what happens when you start to imply that some people are subhuman. Remember whose company you are keeping.

Anonymous said...

The subhuman scum are all in here and its the kind of prison where Wangas hopes you'll stay.

Anonymous said...

That was a political message from Vision Wanganui.

"The subhuman scum are ... "

Hey, JP, hope Michael's invited you to the council "retreat". You'll down down a treat as the dinner comedian, after a few drinks.

Enjoy, Matey.

You could even do them a little rendition of "As my guitar gently bleats".

I think it's JB you're referring to here. I heard Michael's going to sing this as the late night torch song at the racecourse:

We come on the sloop JB
Richard, Dotty and me
Up diVision creek we did roam
Blogging all night
Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
I want to go home
